If you are planning to drive around in Mason County this week, be aware that there will be a lot of highway work going on. Watch out and be careful for our flaggers! We are used to the work going on where they are putting in the new bridge just shy of The Lucky Dog Casino, but there are going to be other projects going on this week, too. Those of us who drive up to the Hoodsport area and beyond automatically slow down as we near the area where the bridge is going in. We need that new bridge because the old one gets flooded out too often. You can click here to see other highway projects.
Microsoft, centered in WA’s Redmond area, (I lived near them when I lived up in Kirland WA) is planning their next release of “Windows 7.” I get very nervous whenever there is a new release for Windows software. I like my XP just fine, thank you, and don’t want to upgrade. However, I am also thinking of getting a new laptop, and will probably end up with an upgrade when I do. No one seems to like the Vista that came out last. I haven’t even tried it. When we in real estate have to work with the NWMLS, we also have to worry if any new upgrades will be compatible with the MLS. For example, our NWMLS is still lagging behind when it comes to the latest Internet Explorer upgrade. Find out more about Windows 7 here.
Here is an interesting tidbit. A Spokane man built a garage, and now has someone living there and he can’t get them to leave. He made a big mistake, and now he is stuck with the consequences.
We are losing some agents in Mason County due to the slow market. Some people just can’t afford to stick it out until the market improves. One of our own agents, who has young children, took another job and we are not sure if this agent will stay, or not. So far most of our agents are staying busy. We are a well established, independent real estate office that’s been around for years and years. We’ve seen the ups and downs of markets, and since we tend to be optimists, we expect to see this market go back up “any day now.” In the meantime we all work a little harder, and keep trying new things. One of the postive sides of this slower market is the luxury of having time to try those new things.
People in NW Washington tend to think of themselves as Independents. We tend to get really angry when the political parties want us to declare ourselves for one party or the other in our primaries, and you will find that people don’t just vote a straight party line. The craziness of the extremists in the Republican party are driving me firmly into the Democratic party, however. Anyone else getting tired of constant “no, no no” of the opposition party? And the constant picking, picking, picking on every word and action of our president? The latest from Newt Gingrich is just one small part of the whole.
Just got a new Garden Article to post on our www.SellingWaState.com web site. We have lots of past articles on our site for the Northwest gardener. You might want to check out this web site. This office web site is mainly used as a service for people, and offers lots of resources for our area. Of course, we also put on some of our featured listings, and have a connection to the great Search feature on our Broker’s web site. Most of our clients like to go to our web site as a quick way to find their way to things like “well logs” and other Mason County resources.
Well, that’s it for today. I’m looking forward to enjoying this unusual sunny day.
