Our state is one of a handful of states that have their own web site to track the spending of the ARRA money.  Go here to see our state’s web site.  There is also this great map on the White House web site that lets you see how all the other states are spending the money they receive.  Go here for the map.  The map is just starting up, so I was happy to see that our state is one of the states that is keeping up with what is happening.

I really like being able to see what is going on for a change.  Now this is change I can believe in.  There is a detailed list of projects for our state here.  I’m sure that there will be people who grumble about this or that on the list, but not matter what you think, it is so good to have a list to grumble over!  This administration is taking quite a stand on the side of transparency and accountability.  The past administration was an administration of secrets.  Heck, several members of the past administration are still trying to hide things from us.

At the White House site you can also tell your story of recovery, especially what you think is working, and what is not working.  I do wonder who will possibly be able to read all the stuff that goes into the White House web site.  There are places all over the site where you can make suggestions, complaints or leave comments.  I’m guessing that there are some people being employed just to keep track of all the posts that come to the  WH site.

This morning (I’m on Pacific Time) I listened to the president’s introduction to the Summit on Health Care that he has called.  His voice got very passionate when he talked about the people he is eager to help.  Once again he stated that he is working for the American People, (we the people) and not for special interests.  He also reiterated the fact that getting our Health Care costs under control is necessary for the recovery of our economy, especially for businesses that are being overwhelmed by health care costs for employees.  You can read the CNN article, but it was better to hear the speech for yourself.   I really hope that for this issue the people who make decisions on our behalf will actually get something done this time.  Health Care is a major issue for people like us in real estate.   Some agents go without.

Well, as a real estate agent I am for anything that helps toward the recovery of our economy, and I am especially for all things that not only strengthen the middle class but also create a larger middle class.  It would be great to have more of the working poor move up into the middle class.  In the past years the opposite has been true — people moving down into the working poor; the salaries of the middle class actually going down.  The middle class is the back bone of our country, ensures a democracy that works, and from a real estate agents point of view, is the class that purchases the most homes!   Besides, most real estate agents are in that middle class themselves.
