The City of Shelton is the County Seat for Mason County.  You’ll find the court house, the jail, and a bunch of other officious looking buildings here.  You can find lots of useful information on the City Web Site, or on the Chamber of Commerce web site.  The reason I was thinking about Shelton today is that according to Dedrick Allan, our intrepid reporter, Shelton is seeking its own stimulus money.

The City of Shelton is applying directly for stimulus money instead of putting their projects on a list with other cities or going through organizations. City Administrator Dave O’Leary says the City has a better chance of being awarded money if the applications come from city officials and the City uses its relationships with state and federal representatives.

One of the projects that is described as shovel ready is for a sewer pump station.  I like knowing that we could be getting our share of that stimulus money.  We are already expecting money for the two tribes in regard to housing, as you may recall from a previous post.

So, did you hear that Warren Buffet says our economy has gone over a cliff?  Not sure what to think about this.  However, he is basically an optimistic guy, and also says this:

He predicted that unemployment will likely climb a lot higher before the recession is done, but he also reiterated his optimistic long-term view: “Everything will be all right. We do have the greatest economic machine that’s ever been created.”

Now that’s what I like.  Someone who reminds us that all will be well.
